Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Intergalactic: what we know

A clean briefing before the next trailer, with rumour and fact kept apart.

What We Know

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is Naughty Dog’s next original action-adventure after more than a decade of Uncharted and The Last of Us sequels. Sony Interactive Entertainment will publish it for PlayStation 5. Development started in 2020, after The Last of Us Part II shipped, and the studio revealed the game at The Game Awards on 12 December 2024.

You play Jordan A. Mun, a veteran bounty hunter portrayed by Tati Gabrielle. Jordan tracks the Five Aces crime syndicate, crash-lands on Sempiria, and tries to become the first person in more than 600 years to leave that planet’s orbit. That is the entire official premise. Everything else — hidden messiahs, alien harvests, or a secret Last of Us crossover — is fan theory until Naughty Dog says otherwise.

Platform and players

PlayStation’s store listing is blunt: available on PS5, release date to be confirmed. There is no Xbox, Switch, or PC SKU. Recent reporting around Sony’s first-party strategy also makes a same-window PC port unlikely, so plan around a DualSense and a disc or digital PS5 copy. The game is framed as a single-player story. Naughty Dog has talked about isolation on purpose: unlike Joel and Ellie or Nathan and a partner, Jordan is meant to feel cut off.

Who is making it

Neil Druckmann is creative director and co-writer. Matthew Gallant and Kurt Margenau are game directors. Claire Carré is narrative director. The score is by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross — Reznor’s first full game soundtrack since Quake in 1996. Naughty Dog has described Intergalactic as its most expansive, and likely most expensive, production. A writers’ room was built more like a television staff than the studio’s older two-person narrative model, and thousands of years of Sempirian religious history were written before many levels were locked.

What the trailer actually shows

The announcement film is in-engine. Jordan flies a red Porsche-branded ship toward a rust-red world and a shattered moon, talks to her agent AJ, watches anime, cues 1980s music on a Sony disc player, and later leaps at a blade-wielding robot with a red waveform sword. The trailer breakdown walks those shots in order. The soundtrack page covers why Pet Shop Boys’ “It’s a Sin” is not a random needle drop.

Release status, stated carefully

Naughty Dog has not published a year. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has reported an internal mid-2027 target. Performance capture wrapped on 31 August 2026, which is a production milestone, not a street date. Treat “2026 launch” claims as outdated. See the release date page and the release tracker before you pre-order rumours from social posts.

This page will grow when Sony shows a gameplay slice. Until then, the useful skill is not memorising leaks. It is knowing which facts are locked: PS5, single-player, Naughty Dog, Jordan, Sempiria, and no official date.
